Jewellery Re-design FAQ's
How does the redesign process work?
You start by sending an enquiry and telling me a little about the jewellery you’d like to redesign. You can share photos, your ideas, and any inspiration you have. I’ll guide you through the possibilities and help shape a design that feels true to you and honours the sentiment of your original piece.
Can you reuse my gemstones or metal?
Yes, I can often reuse your existing gemstones, metal, or both. Not every stone or metal is suitable for redesign, but I’ll always assess your pieces carefully and let you know what’s possible before we begin.
How much does a redesign cost?
When I’m working with your own gemstones or metal, there is a £300 minimum order value. This covers the specialist work, time, and care involved in safely handling existing materials.
The final price will depend on:
• the metal we’re reusing
• the gemstones we’re reusing
• any additional metal or stones needed to complete your design
• the amount of craftsmanship required
Once we’ve discussed your ideas, I’ll provide a clear quote before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect.
What metals do you work with?
I work with 925 sterling silver, gold (9ct, 14ct, and 18ct), platinum, and palladium.
If we’re reusing your own metal, I’ll assess it first to make sure it’s suitable for melting and reshaping. Not all metals can be reused safely, but I’ll always let you know what’s possible before we begin.
How Long will it take?
Redesigns typically take 20–24 weeks, depending on the complexity of your piece and the materials involved. Some projects may take longer, especially if specialist work or sourcing is required. I’ll always give you an estimated timeframe before we begin.
Are there any risks?
I take great care with every piece, but it’s important to know that working with existing gemstones always carries a small risk of damage, especially with older, softer, or previously worn stones. I’ll assess your stones before we start and let you know if I have any concerns, but by going ahead with a redesign you acknowledge this risk.
How do I send you my jewellery?
You can post your jewellery to me using a tracked and insured service, we reccomend Royal Mail Special delivery. You can also arrange to drop it off if you’re local. I’ll give you full instructions once we’ve confirmed your redesign.
Making you piece
Once payment is received, I begin crafting your jewellery in my Bristol studio. Every piece is made entirely by hand, using traditional techniques and a lot of care.
You’re always welcome to message me at any time, by email or WhatsApp, if you’d like an update or have any questions while your piece is being made.
Delivery
When your piece is finished, I’ll send you a photo or video so you can see it before it’s posted and make sure you’re happy with everything.
It will then be sent using the delivery method you chose at checkout. I send all jewellery by Royal Mail unless you request otherwise, and I highly recommend Special Delivery as it’s the safest and fastest option.
Your jewellery will be carefully packaged, ready to be worn or gifted. If you’re unhappy in any way, please get in touch. Although bespoke commissions are non‑refundable, I will always work with you to find a resolution wherever possible.
